Supporting MTSS
We can enhance MTSS by supporting students at ALL tiers with evidence-based behavioral strategies. By developing universal prevention strategies, creating individualized interventions, supporting progress monitoring, and training staff, we can create positive, inclusive, and effective school environments for ALL students.

Examples:
-
Develop universal strategies at Tier 1 that support and benefit all students (e.g., develop school-wide behavior expectations, use data-based decision-making, train staff on prevention strategies)
- Support targeted small group strategies at Tier 2 (e.g., instruction that focuses on building social-emotional skills, self-regulation skills, or peer conflict)
- Provide intensive supports at Tier 3 for students who are not responding to Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions (e.g., comprehensive assessments and behavior plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams)
- Evaluate research-based social and emotional learning (SEL) curricula
